The short-term goal is to introduce new practices and processes to remove the barriers between print and digital publishing, in order to maximise performance on digital media, while preserving the essence of the journalistic profession.
Upgrade Media’s mission is to structure the digital transition of La Provence by using content as a development lever. The methodology consists of helping and accompanying the teams in order to involve them and do things differently. La Provence’s ambition is to become a leader in the region once again, both in terms of its print edition and its online content and social networks.
This programme is the very first measure decided by La Provence as part of its vast and ambitious project to move upmarket.
New collective and individual practices, as well as new processes, have been put in place to build solutions specific to La Provence and thus renew the modes of news processing that are better adapted to readers’ needs, on all media. Measures have also been put in place to cover important events, such as the day of mobilisation against pension reform, with very encouraging results such as a 48% increase in new visitors to the site. Further operations are planned as well as adjustments in the editorial organisation to improve the quality and relevance of the content.
Thus, this collective effort aims to improve practices and interdepartmental communication to facilitate the supply of digital media with more numerous and relevant content. Finally, the lessons learned from these experiments will be shared in order to generalise the best practices to all the editorial departments.
