18th day of the war – Oksana Brovko CEO of the Association of Independent Regional Publishers of Ukraine calls for solidarity to support the Ukrainian people and media professionals.
I do not know what day is it today
I do not know what date is it today
I just know that today is 18th day of the war
I am lucky. Because unlike most of Ukrainians, my intuition told me exactly that night that something would happen. I did not sleep all that night waiting for something.
So just the war started we grabbed our 4 kids and ran away from Kyiv.
We are a lucky country. Because our people are brave.
Because our army is powerful.
Because we have the president whom we are proud of.
How is it going with the media?
Our journalists now are volunteers, our managers are psychologists.
Our income is zero. But still anybody who can continue to work – they carry on working.
Streaming the news, announcing the bombing, publishing special war editions.
Some of them were already evacuated.
Some others – still in the cities under attack.
Some of them – are in blockade.
But all we need to be alive.
To show the world the truth.
To notice everything for The Hague.
What can our colleagues do for us?
Please promote in your media that Ukraine becomes an EU member-state. And we need to be together. Not only because of Ukraine, but also because of the EU.
Please promote in your media that all businesses have go away from Russia. Not just make a release or stop to invest, but stop all their business in Russia
Please promote in your media that we need your support to close the sky.
What can people do for us?
If you can, please send us vests and helmets. We need ammunition.
If you can, please support our media with donations.
If you can, please support our journalists with kids who were evacuated from the country.
If you can, please ask us, every morning, if we are still alive and what we need for our Victory.
Remember that today Ukrainian kids, solders, doctors, journalists, teachers are keeping the fire of war away from you.
Thank you
Слава Україні.
